This article summarizes a presentation made by Scott Willoughby, Senior Manager of Ernst & Young (E&Y) and former Assistant General Counsel to the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of American (PhRMA), at the Pharmaceutical Sales Effectiveness conference held in Philadelphia, PA on October 30-31, 2003 in which he provided a perspective on compliance with the PhRMA Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals and how it is impacting sales effectiveness.
Willoughby cites results from qualitative E&Y research with pharmaceutical companies and physicians about the impact of the code and suggests ways to improve access to physicinas while remaining compliant with the code.
