Through this Web site you can subscribe to our monthly e-newsletter, Pharma Marketing News, and join the PHARMA-MKTING e-mail discussion group (see Forum). To subscribe to these services, you are required to give us personal information, including your name, job title, company name, e-mail address, and country of residence.

As part of the subscription process we also ask you to voluntarily supply us with additional information, including your business address, phone and fax numbers. You can decline to supply us this additional information and it will not affect your ability to use any of the services we provide via the Web site or via e-mail.

Occasionally, we ask subscribers to respond to surveys, where we may collect additional information. Your participation in these surveys is voluntary.

IP Addresses and Web log
When you browse our Web site, you do so anonymously. While your IP address (an address automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Web) may be recorded as part of this site's Web log, your IP address is not linked with other personally-identifiable information if you are just browsing the site and freely accessing available content.

The log also records the web pages you visit and the time of visit. The only other information automatically provided to us is the type of computer and operating system you are using. Your browser supplies us with this information.

If you subscribe to the Pharma Marketing News e-newsletter, join the PHARMA-MKTING e-mail discussion forum, or take surveys, your IP address is automatically collected and saved with your subscription or survey information.

Subscription Information
We use your name, job title, company name, and e-mail address to certify that you are a qualified pharmaceutical marketing professional or student and to allow us to send you the information and services you requested via e-mail.

We use aggregate job title and country of residence data to describe generally the makeup of the subscriber base to our advertisers. We also use this information for market analysis.

If you supply us with your postal address on-line, you may receive mailings from us with information on new products and services offered by us or our advertisers. If you do not wish to receive such mailings, please let us know by contacting us by phone or e-mail (see About us).

Persons who supply us with their telephone numbers on-line will only receive telephone contact from us when necessary to discuss service orders they have placed on-line or regarding matters related to their subscription status.

e-Mail
We use your name, e-mail address, and e-mail content format preference (HTML, text) to send you e-mail messages, which include the monthly e-newsletter, biweekly conference calendar updates, and relevant messages from our advertisers about job openings, conferences, products and services, etc.

If you opt in to join the PHARMA-MKTING online discussion group (i.e., "Full Discussion" or "Lurk & Learn" options), your name and e-mail address are used to enable you to post and receive e-mail messages form the group, thereby allowing you to participate in online discussions.

Periodically you will receive third-party commercial e-mail messages (ads) through this service. By subscribing to the newsletter and/or joining the PHARMA-MKTING discussion group, you give us permission to send you these e-mail messages on behalf of our advertisers.

Use of IP Addresses
When you browse our Web site, your IP address is not linked to any personally identifiable information and we do NOT use this information to profile visitors.

Sometimes we use IP addresses collected during the subscription process in combination with other personal information to help us identify subscribers when they make other requests - such as opt-out requests (see below) - and there is no other way to identify who made the request.

In aggregate, data automatically provided by your browser during your visit is used to inform us which parts of this Web site are being used most frequently, and which archives, news items, policy statements, search strategies and the like, are of most interest to our visitors.

Use of Cookies
"Cookies" are small text files a Web site can use to recognize repeat visitors and facilitate access to the site. This Web site does not use cookies.

It is necessary to disclose some of the personal information you voluntarily supply to us with third parties in order to supply you with the services you requested. See Use of your information for more information about this type of disclosure.

Sharing Information with Advertisers
We do NOT transfer your name, e-mail address or other personally identifiable information about you to third parties advertisers. We only "rent" our subscriber list to advertisers. This means that advertisers send us their ad copy to forward to our list of subscribers.

Sharing Information with Other Third Parties
We contract with other companies to help us provide services. We select all such companies on the basis of their ability to limit their access to any personal information to the minimum necessary to perform their obligations, and not to use the information they maintain for us for purposes other than fulfilling their responsibilities to us.

The following companies and organizations provide services that require the maintenance and use of your personal data:

• Health Sciences Library Consortium (HSLC): Health Sciences Libraries Consortium is a not-for-profit organization that hosts our Web sites and e-mail listservs (i.e., the PHARMA-MKTING forum). Consequently, when you visit our Web site, HSLC server logs record your IP address and pages you visited. If you opted in to participate in the online PHARMA-MKTING discussion forum/group mailing list, your name and e-mail address are maintained by HSLC on their listserv/e-mail server. The two sets of data are separate and not linked in any way by HSLC or by us. If you have questions about HSLC's Web hosting or group mailing list service, please contact HSLC at (215) 222-1532 or visit their Web site at www.hslc.org.

• Survey Monkey: The service we use to collect subscription and survey information is Survey Monkey (www.surveymonkey.com). Information you provide voluntarily in subscription forms, service request forms, surveys, etc. is stored on computers maintained by Survey Monkey until we delete the information on their servers. If you have questions about Survey Monkey's data protection policies, please visit their Web site at www.surveymonkey.com.

• Topica Email Publisher: We use Topica Email Publisher to deliver e-mail newsletters, Conference Calendar Updates, ads, and promotional messages to subscribers of Pharma Marketing News. This service maintains a copy of our subscriber list on their servers. This copy contains only your name, e-mail address, and e-mail content preferences. If you have questions about Topica's data protection policies, please visit their Web site at www.topica.com.

Sale of Information
The current policy of Pharma Marketing Network is not to sell personally-identifiable member or subscriber information to third parties. However, in the event that Pharma Marketing Network goes through a business transition, such as a merger, being acquired by another company, or selling a portion of its assets, member/subscriber personal information generally is one of the transferred business assets.

Disclosures Required by Law
We will disclose information we maintain when required to do so by law, for example, in response to a court order or a subpoena. We also may disclose such information in response to a law enforcement agency's request.

Although we take appropriate measures to safeguard against unauthorized disclosures of information (see How WE safeguard your privacy), we cannot assure you that personally identifiable information that you provide us voluntarily will never be disclosed in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Notice.

We have appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard your personal data that we maintain on our local computers and in physical documents on file in our offices. Electronic data are stored on password protected computers located in locked offices. Only authorized persons with adequate training in our security policies and procedures have access to your data.

Third Parties
As discussed above, we share your subscription and other personally-identifiable information with third-party companies to provide the services your requested. We select these companies partly on the basis of their ability to protect the information we provide them. If you have questions about the security measure these companies have in place, please contact them separately (see above).

While we make every effort to protect your privacy, there are situations where it is possible for you to reveal your personal information unintentionally. This is especially true if you are a member of the PHARMA-MKTING e-mail discussion group.

We do NOT reveal the names and e-mail addresses of PHARMA-MKTING members and Pharma Marketing News subscribers to the general public or to other members or subscribers. However, messages that you post to the PHARMA-MKTING list will usually include your e-mail address in the header and may also be in your signature block. Therefore, if you wish to protect your anonymity, you should not send any messages to the PHARMA-MKTING list.

Members of the PHARMA-MKTING e-mail list -- and in some cases, the general public or non-subscribers -- can access an "archive" of posts (e-mail messages) made to the list. This archive is automatically updated and maintained on the listserv server operated by a third-party (Health Sciences Library Consortium, see above).

This archive includes all the posts sent to the list and may include senders' names and e-mail addresses. Anyone can access this archive via e-mail or via the Web. As long as you do not post messages to the list, your anonymity will be protected as described in this privacy policy. However, if you wish to protect your anonymity, you should not post messages to the PHARMA-MKTING list.

In this section, we describe what choices are available to you regarding collection, use and distribution of the information you supply us voluntarily.

Opt-Out
You may opt-out from receiving e-mail at any time.

To remove your name from the PHARMA-MKTING list, send an e-mail message to infovirsci@virsci.com or follow the directions found at the end of every e-mail message sent to you by the PHARMA-MKTING list.

If you sign off the PHARMA-MKTING list in this manner, you may still receive the monthly Pharma Marketing News e-newsletter and associated e-mail ads.

If you want to remain a member of the PHARMA-MKTING discussion list but do not wish to receive the newsletter or ads, you must opt-out by following the directions at the end of the e-mail version of the newsletter or the e-mail ad.

If you wish to opt out from BOTH the newsletter and the discussion list, please select "Cancel my subscription" in the online Subscription Change Request Form. This form also allows you to switch to the Newsletter ONLY or "Lurk & Learn" subscription option.

We will process your subscription change requests within ten (10) business days.

Choice
You will be given the opportunity to opt-out whether your personal information is to be used for a purpose that is different from the purpose originally intended or authorized.

Your options for updating the personal information that you have provided us are:

• remove your personal information from active subscription lists we maintain,
• update your personal information, and
• change your preferences with respect to your subscription.
