HBA’s Woman of the Year (WOTY): Defined

The HBA Woman of the Year is an annual signature event that recognizes a female industry leader who has been a role model for excellence throughout her career within healthcare and life sciences. The awards celebration also recognizes an Honorable Mentor, STAR (volunteer) and Rising Stars and Luminaries who have been nominated by their companies for significant contributions to their company, the industry and HBA’s mission to advance the influence and impact of healthcare businesswomen in their careers.

The HBA is grateful that award honorees choose to commit time with the HBA community through national and local events, allowing the Woman of the Year and other honorees to share their journeys and network with others in healthcare. Now celebrating 32 years of exceptional female leaders as WOTYs, and 20 years of male Honorable Mentors, the HBA continues to celebrate each year with new honorees who champion gender parity and equity in the industry.

Why You Should Attend the HBA Woman of the Year

This year, no matter where you work and live, you can attend this typically sold-out luncheon celebration. To date, more than 4,000 people have registered for the May 6 virtual event. In addition to hearing from the honorees, attendees will be welcomed by just-announced emcee Christine Miller, president and CEO of Melinta Therapeutics. The HBA has also built in networking opportunities before and after the celebration so like the traditional in-person event, attendees get a chance to engage in uplifting face-to-face relationship-building with colleagues, old and new.

The 2021 HBA Woman of the Year is Dr. Sandra Horning, former CMO and Head of Global Product Development at Genentech and Roche. Honorable Mentor, Rod MacKenzie, PhD, and STAR, Susan Torroella will also be honored.

Don’t miss out on this celebration of these leaders in healthcare and life sciences!
